In Love with San Gimignano

One of the most incredible places that I’ve yet to visit in Italy is San Gimignano. This small medieval town is situated in Val d’Elsa, 56 km south of Florence in the province of Siena, Tuscany. One of the best parts about coming to this beautiful town is the drive from Florence. The roads wind in and out of vineyard-covered land. During Spring and Fall the colors are a beautiful array of oranges, reds, yellows and greens.

While in other cities, such as Florence, most or all of their towers have been brought down due to wars, catastrophes, or urban renewal, San Gimignano has managed to conserve fourteen towers of varying heights and is known as the Town of Fine Towers.

Within the walls, the well-preserved buildings include notable examples of both Romanesque and Gothic architecture, with outstanding examples of secular buildings as well as churches. It is no wonder that San Gimignano is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Be sure to climb to the top of the bell tower to get panoramic views of the Tuscan countryside. Afterwards, grab lunch at Ristorante Perucà and indulge in some classic Tuscan fare like their truffle gnocchi. Yum!

Flannel (also this one) // Jeans // Hat

Boots // Ring // Bracelet // Sunglasses

Tuscany in the Fall can be slightly chilly so dress accordingly. I wore a simple, short sleeve shirt with a flannel (also love this one too) and black jeans. I picked up the hat at a boutique in Florence but this one is very similar. My flat over-the-knee black leather boots were the perfect thing to wear because they are so comfortable for climbing up to the top of the bell tower! Accessorize with a bracelet like this one and I often rock this Yurman ring. And, of course, I wouldn’t go anywhere without my aviators.
